Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Birthpin ("we", "our", or "the App"), an iPhone app, handles your data.
2. Data Collection & Analytics
Birthpin collects NO personal information. Specifically:
- No account: we never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Nothing sent anywhere: the App does not send your calendar, contact or usage data off your iPhone.
- No third-party SDKs: no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting libraries.
- No tracking: Birthpin does not track you across apps or websites (Privacy Manifest:
NSPrivacyTracking: false).
3. Permissions
- Calendars (required): Birthpin reads birthday events in the calendars you choose, such as the Birthdays calendar, to know whose birthday it is today.
- Contacts (optional): if you allow it, Birthpin looks up a person's birth year and phone number to show their age and let you call or message them. Without it, those details are simply not shown.
- Notifications (optional): used only for a local backup reminder at your chosen time. No push server is involved.
4. Messages, WhatsApp and calls
When you choose to call or send a wish, Birthpin hands a phone number and a draft message to Apple's Phone or Messages app, or to WhatsApp, on your device. You review and send the message yourself. What happens after that is governed by those apps' own privacy policies.
5. Data Storage
Your settings (start time, chosen calendars, messaging app) and which people you have marked as wished are stored locally in the App's sandboxed App Group container (group.com.benoit.birthpin), shared only with Birthpin's own Live Activity widget. As required by Apple's Privacy Manifest rules, the App declares its use of the User Defaults API (reason code CA92.1) for this purpose only.
6. Pricing
Birthpin is free. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Deleting the App from your iPhone permanently removes all of its settings and stored data. Birthpin never modifies your calendars or contacts.
8. Children's Privacy
Birthpin does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
